aboutpic

Rennie Cowan is a filmmaker and a photographer with awards in photography, cinematography, and filmmaking. She owns her own production company (Cowan Entertainment Company). One achievement was an award given to her by a California State Senator for a film she shot. The zest for visual images began in High School when she enrolled into a black & white photography program at John W. North. At that time, everything shot was on real film and there were no digital methods. Photographers had to rely on light meters. The program taught all photographers how to develop their own negatives the old-fashioned way; in a school facility processing lab. During that Senior year, it was required to carry the Pentax manual camera everyday for assignment shoots.

The early years prepared the road for film school and acceptance into the prestigious Chapman University in 1996. Rennie earned a BFA in Film & TV Production and an MFA in Film & TV Producing. At Chapman, it was required to enroll in a one-year Cinematography course. It was also required to shoot on real film (16mm) in addition to video. Her Senior film Kale: The Concept was a 16mm cinematographer's fantasy piece. It required two D.P.'s to shoot; one for film, and one for stage-lighting. There were seven categories of winners that year, and she was one out of 500 students to win a Film School Academy Award in Visual Perception and Expression.

Rennie Cowan Photography has worked on red carpet premieres, modeling photography, private event parties, and with several companies for their events. Some of her photos have been published in the LA Times, Enquirer and on several websites for publicity purposes and celebrities.
